With biochemical dispersal units, the blast radius indicates the relative concentration of the agent within that range. Within the smallest radius, the effects are irresistible unless the targeted population is safe behind environmental seals. Within the middle radius, the effect of the agent can be resisted by an opposed Strength check. Within the wide radius, the effect can also be resisted, and the Strength check is granted a +2D to resist.

Description

The HCCM was developed as a flexible means for delivering various weapons systems to planetary and large orbital targets without risking large numbers of expensive capital ships. These missiles have been used to great effect against lightly-defended worlds and orbital stations. However, the weakly-shielded bodies of the missiles are very easily destroyed by planetary defense squads, even when those squads only consist of loosely-organized starfighters. The droidbrains suffer from the standard drawback of using droids; they are generally not particularly creative in avoiding incoming fighters and antimissile fire. The HCCM’s only significant defense is its speed; if planetary defensive forces don’t scramble quickly, the missiles may well punch through the defensive grid before they can be intercepted.

These missiles are carried by a very limited number of large Imperial Navy vessels as they are quite expensive. However, these standoff missiles can be used against heavily defended targets that the Empire do not care to take intact. They can also be employed when the loss of valuable equipment and men is deemed to be too high for a standard assault.
